MEETING NIGHT and TIME

ALDA Suncoast has changed from meetings to more social events. We get together, usually on the second Tuesday of the month but these are no longer formal meetings. We stil use the whatever works method of communication, signing, speech reading, writing, and/or apps. We still provide peer support for your questions on equipment, advocacy and dealing with loss of hearing. Our Facebook page is updated more often than our Webpage, we encourage you to check there for the most recent events. Sometimes these events will be sponsored by us and sometimes we will attend someone else's event as a group. We have many members that have moved north into Pasco and Hernando so we now try to rotate between south (Pinellas) and north (Pasco) with the occasional Tampa (Hillsborough) gathering as well.

2025 Convention

The national ALDA convention for 2025 will be held October 15-19 in Denver, Colorado. The convention hotel will be The Curtis Hotel, 1405 Curtis Street in Downtown Denver near the Convention Center. Besides the great workshops and being able to socialize with other people from across the country and beyond, you can explore surrounding areas such as Larimer Square and the historic landmarks which are gorgeous examples of 19th century architecture. Denver Center for the Performing Arts where the history and beauty of the area, as well as the plethora of public art make this a favorite area. Colorado Convention Center and the famous Big Blue Bear! 16th Street Mall, a bustling pedestrian mall with plenty of places to get food. City Park is a great place for views of the mountains and of The Mile High City skyline. The Denver Museum Of Nature & Science and the Denver Zoo are also in the City Park area. Molly Brown House Museum, she was the infamous survivor of the Titanic who lived in Denver and her mansion is in Capitol Hill. Colorado State Capitol and it's rich gold leaf dome where you can take a photo while standing on the Mile High Steps, 5,280 feet above sea level! Nearby is the beautiful cruciform Cathedral Bascilica of the Immaculate Conception. Learn all about the architecture, enjoy 75 of the finest stained glass windows in the world or just soak in the peace and say a prayer. Civic Center Park inspired by the beauty and parks of Paris, France. Another architectural gem, the Denver Public Library, designed by the architect who designed Red Rocks. The Denver Art Museum inspires with unique architecture, art exhibits and public art surrounding the building. United States Mint At Denver can give you the inside scoop on how money is made and recycled with a shop for souvenirs made from real cash and coins. You could also day trip into the Rockies (visible on the west of town), taste some fresh spring water, see the beauty of nature, ride the cogwheel railway up to Pikes Peak and many other beautiful surrounding mountain areas for hiking and other recreation.

Detailed information will soon be available on the National Website for sign up. As always there will be an Early Bird Special that gives you a discount on registration. There is also a budget friendly payment plan so you can make payments each month from the time you sign up until shortly before the convention.
